How we collect, use, share, and protect information about you and your work with Vidya.
We collect information you provide directly when you create a Vidya account, connect a learning management system, or send us a message. This includes your name, email address, school or organization, and the content of your conversations with Vidya.
We also collect technical information automatically: device type, browser, operating system, and basic usage data such as which features you use and when. We do not track your browsing across other websites.
We use the information we collect to operate Vidya, personalize your study experience, and improve the product over time. Personalization means Vidya remembers what you have covered, where you struggle, and the pace that works for you.
We use aggregate, de-identified usage data to understand how learners use Vidya overall. We do not use your conversations to train public AI models, and we never sell your data.
We share limited information with service providers who help us run Vidya, such as cloud hosting and email delivery. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may only use your information to perform services for us.
If your school or institution administers your Vidya account, we may share account-level information with the designated administrator. We will tell you which information is shared and why.
We will only disclose information to law enforcement when legally required to do so, and we will notify you unless prohibited by law.
You can access, correct, export, or delete your Vidya data at any time from your account settings. Deletion is permanent and we will remove your conversations, study plans, and account record within 30 days of your request.
If you are in a jurisdiction that grants additional data rights, such as the EU or California, those rights apply to you and can be exercised by writing to hello@vidya.co.
We retain your information for as long as your Vidya account is active, plus a short window afterwards to handle support requests and legal obligations. Backups are rotated and purged within 90 days.
You can ask us to delete specific conversations or your entire account at any time. After deletion, only minimal records required for billing, fraud prevention, and legal compliance are retained.
Vidya uses a small number of first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, parts of Vidya that require sign-in will not work.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for substantive changes, notify you by email or through the Vidya product.
Continued use of Vidya after a change means you accept the updated policy.
