This policy is part of the Vidya Terms of Service. It sets out what you may not do with Vidya and how we enforce it. Capitalized terms have the meanings given in the Terms.
1. Why this policy exists
Vidya is built for learning. It works only if learners, educators, and institutions can trust that it is used honestly and safely. This policy protects that trust.
2. Academic integrity
You are responsible for how you use Vidya in your studies.
Know the rules that apply to you. Institutions and instructors set their own policies on AI use. Some allow it freely, some allow it with disclosure, some prohibit it for specific assignments or courses. You must know and follow the rules that apply to each course and assignment. If you are unsure, ask your instructor before you use Vidya on that work.
You decide what to submit. Vidya can explain, draft, outline, check, quiz, and help you complete work. Whether you submit something Vidya helped produce, and how you disclose that help, is your decision and your responsibility. Vidya does not certify that any output is acceptable to submit.
Prohibited academic uses. You may not use Vidya to:
- complete or assist with a quiz, test, exam, or other assessment where AI assistance is prohibited;
- circumvent proctoring software, lockdown browsers, or other assessment controls;
- submit work as your own where your institution or instructor prohibits AI-generated or AI-assisted work, or without disclosure where disclosure is required;
- complete work on behalf of another student, or have another person complete work on your behalf through your account;
- impersonate an instructor, teaching assistant, or another student;
- obtain, distribute, or upload exam questions, answer keys, or other materials your institution has designated confidential;
- interfere with or manipulate grading systems, learning management systems, or institutional records.
Agentic submissions. If you direct Vidya to submit an assignment, post to a discussion, or take another action in a learning management system, you are the person submitting. You confirm that you reviewed the work and that submitting it complies with your institution's rules.
Reporting. We may suspend or terminate accounts for academic misconduct. Where an institution's agreement with us or applicable law requires, we may report violations to the institution. We do not proactively monitor conversation content for academic integrity purposes.
3. Prohibited uses
You may not use Vidya to:
Harm people.
- Threaten, harass, bully, stalk, defame, or intimidate anyone.
- Generate content that sexualizes minors or that depicts child sexual abuse in any form. We report such content to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and law enforcement.
- Generate non-consensual intimate imagery or sexual content depicting real people.
- Promote or facilitate self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or violence.
- Promote hatred or discrimination against people based on protected characteristics.
Break the law or enable others to.
- Engage in or facilitate fraud, theft, or unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or data.
- Develop, distribute, or use malware, exploits, or tools designed to attack systems.
- Produce instructions or materials that meaningfully assist in creating weapons capable of mass casualties, including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or high-yield explosive weapons.
- Infringe intellectual property, trade secrets, privacy, or publicity rights.
- Violate export controls, sanctions, or anti-money-laundering laws.
Deceive.
- Impersonate any person, institution, or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Generate disinformation, fake reviews, fake credentials, or deceptive content intended to mislead.
- Use synthetic voice or likeness to deceive anyone about who is speaking or what a person said.
- Conceal that content is AI-generated where disclosure is required by law, by a platform's rules, or by an institution.
Abuse the platform.
- Send spam, unsolicited bulk messages, or engage in phishing.
- Attempt to extract, reproduce, or reverse engineer our models, weights, system prompts, or training data.
- Use Vidya's outputs to train, fine-tune, or benchmark a competing AI model or service without our written permission.
- Attempt prompt injection, jailbreaks, or other techniques to make Vidya violate this policy or to affect other users' sessions.
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service by automated means.
- Circumvent rate limits, credit accounting, access controls, trial limits, or referral limits, including by creating multiple accounts.
- Share, sell, or transfer accounts, credentials, credits, or Digital Twin access.
- Interfere with the Service's operation, security, or availability.
4. Digital Twin rules
For educators publishing a Digital Twin. You may upload only materials you own or have the right to use for this purpose. Do not upload:
- publisher textbooks, slide decks, test banks, or other third-party materials unless you hold a license that permits this use;
- student records of any kind, including grades, rosters, submissions, or communications with students;
- personal information about any identifiable person other than yourself;
- materials your institution's policies prohibit you from using commercially or outside the institution.
You may not create a Digital Twin that impersonates another educator or institution, or that presents itself as an official product of your institution unless the institution has authorized it in writing.
For learners using a Digital Twin. You may not attempt to extract the underlying course materials in bulk, redistribute a Digital Twin's answers commercially, share your access with others, or use a Digital Twin to circumvent access rules (such as verifying an institutional email that is not yours).
5. Voice rules
- Clone only your own voice, and only after signing the Voice and Likeness Consent.
- Do not upload recordings of other people to create a voice profile.
- Do not use synthetic voice to make it appear that a real person said something they did not say.
- Do not record voice conversations in circumstances where recording is prohibited or where other participants have not consented.
6. Connector and agentic action rules
When Vidya acts on your behalf, you are responsible for the action. You may not direct Vidya to:
- access any account, system, or data you are not authorized to access;
- take actions on a third-party site that violate that site's terms of service;
- perform bulk or automated actions that a site prohibits, such as mass registrations, mass messaging, ticket scalping, or vote manipulation;
- enter credentials, payment card numbers, or government identification numbers into any form (Vidya declines these actions by design);
- submit work, communications, or applications on behalf of another person without their explicit authority;
- complete CAPTCHAs or bypass bot-detection or anti-automation controls.
7. Content standards for shared and public content
If Vidya offers features that let you share content with others, such as public study materials or community spaces, everything in Sections 2 through 6 applies, and you may not post content that is sexually explicit, gratuitously violent, or that discloses another person's private information without consent.
8. Reporting violations
You can report any response Vidya generates, any Digital Twin, and any Digital Twin answer from inside the app: long-press or open the menu on the item and choose Report, then pick a reason. You can also hide any Digital Twin from your view. Reports go to our moderation queue without leaving the app; you do not need to email anyone. We review reports promptly, remove content that violates this policy, and use reports to improve our filtering. Severe reports (content involving minors, threats of violence, or self-harm) are prioritized for same-day review.
You can also report abuse, harmful content, or suspected violations by emailing hello@vidya.co. For security vulnerabilities, put "Security" in the subject line. We treat reporters' identities as confidential to the extent the law allows.
Vidya filters AI-generated content against this policy before it is shown to you. No filter is perfect; reporting is how you help us close gaps.
9. Enforcement
We may take any action we consider appropriate, including:
- removing or restricting content;
- issuing a warning;
- limiting features, credits, or Digital Twin access;
- suspending or terminating your account;
- forfeiting unused credits, referral rewards, or (for educators) unpaid revenue share where the violation relates to the earnings;
- reporting to institutions where required by agreement or law, and to law enforcement where required by law or where we believe there is a risk of serious harm.
We consider the severity of the violation, whether it was intentional, and any prior history. Where practical we notify you and give you an opportunity to respond. Decisions to terminate for violations involving illegal content, harm to others, or fraud are final. For other enforcement actions you may appeal by emailing hello@vidya.co with "Appeal" in the subject line within 14 days; we respond within 14 days.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the Service and the law evolve. Material changes are notified as described in the Terms.
